For the first half of my career, I specialized in men’s and women’s cutting only. It wasn’t until 2013 that I began to develop a love for the rest of this incredible industry. In early 2017, I decided to take the leap and open a salon of my own in my beloved Westhampton Beach. Prior to and since opening my salon, I have been blessed to learn from and work alongside incredibly talented stylists and educators from all over the world. My dreams have begun taking shape and have led me become not only a salon owner, but an on set session stylist and a Tearsheet Editorial Styling Artist. Recently, I was thrilled to be chosen to style for NYFW shows and events, including the 2018 Celebrity Red Dress Event.

My favorite part of being a hairstylist is not knowing what is going to walk through the door next or what opportunity might be around the corner. This career has lead me down some incredible and unexpected paths and brought amazing people and experiences into my life. Continuing education in the beauty industry has been key in all of my growth and successes. I firmly believe that to succeed you must be humble and continue to seek out education, mentors, and ways of bettering not only yourself but your guest experience.

Cutting hair came to me as second nature when I was growing up.  My mom would cut our hair in the kitchen as kids and as I got older, I started cutting my own hair when I got impatient waiting for my mom to have the time.  Soon my friends started asking me for haircuts and someone mentioned that I should get my license in cosmetology.  I saw this as a great way to make good money while I put myself through college, with the bonus of always having a way to make me money on the side. I did get my degree, but I’ve never left hair styling.

My career in styling has been so rewarding. I worked at salons in NYC, I worked from home while I had my four kids, I’ve worked NYC Fashion week, styled for editorial photoshoots and along the way I have met so many amazing people. From stylists that have worked alongside me, to the clients who have been in my chair, I love the interaction I get to have with so many people.  Being creative in my work and having a part in making people feel good makes me happy to go to work every day.

Since meeting Jessica three years ago and getting much more into the bridal part of the industry, my passion for styling has been refreshed. Being a part of the Lillie’s on Dune team has allowed me to grow as a stylist through continued education and workshops, while having a beautiful space to do what I love. I feel so lucky to say that I truly love what I do.

Certifications and Training: Magic Sleek, Tearsheet the Art of Finishing and Luxury Finishing, Redken Killer Blondes

For most of my life, I was involved in competitive dancing. You were forced to learn how to work with bobby pins, hairspray, gels, braids, and hair ties in order to look professional and perform your best on stage. If you didn’t, you would have to make sure you had a friend who did. That’s where I came in for many of the dancers, and where my love for styling hair emerged. Fast forward a few years, I enrolled in cosmetology school the start of my senior year of high school, and it was one of the best decisions I made for myself and for my career.

Although I am just at the start of my career, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to work as a stylist at Small Boutique Fashion Week in NYC and not only competed in, but won the Fran Cook fantasy styling competition 2 years in a row. Not only that, but I have had the privilege to compete as a stylist in the SkillsUSA organization and place first regionally and second in the state of New York.
